Standing in water
2025 – Original
acrylic on linen.
106cm x 111cm
Stillness isn’t always peaceful. Standing in Water suggests tension—submersion, uncertainty, a quiet moment before impact. Gromm’s abstraction is fluid yet fractured, echoing the sensation of being half-present, half-adrift.
The work’s textures ripple across the surface, colliding between control and spontaneity. Gromm’s intuitive mark-making builds an environment that feels both immersive and isolating, a place where time slows but thoughts race.
Water is a recurring motif in Summer Bummer Summer—not just as a symbol of movement, but of perception. Are we floating? Drowning? Or just waiting for something to happen?
