In Is This an Ad or a Sitcom? Either Way, I’m Sold, Gromm leans into the disorienting blur between entertainment and consumerism. The painting is loud, layered, and slightly unhinged—much like the 24-hour ad-driven culture it references.
Neon streaks of colour mimic the artificial vibrance of screens, while Gromm’s dynamic compositions evoke the sensory overload of media saturation. His abstraction is full of hidden structures, glitches, and near-recognizable forms, as if caught between commercial breaks.
Like much of Gromm’s work, this piece thrives in the tension between chaos and control. It’s a nod to the ways our attention is bought, sold, and manipulated—an aesthetic dopamine hit, questioning whether we’re watching or being watched.
