Who We Are
Founded in 1989, Flinders Lane Gallery is one of Australia's longest-running contemporary commercial galleries. For over 35 years we have worked with Australian artists at every stage of their careers, from early-career artists showing for the first time to established figures with works in public and private collections around the world. Since its inception, FLG has been committed to presenting ambitious contemporary art.
The gallery's program reflects a shared dedication to conceptual rigour, technical excellence and creative sensitivity, bringing together artists whose practices engage thoughtfully with the world around them.
Flinders Lane Gallery is located on Level 1 of Melbourne's historic Nicholas Building, a landmark creative hub that has been home to artists, makers and independent businesses for more than a century.
We welcome visitors to explore our exhibitions, discover works in the stockroom and engage with contemporary Australian art in a relaxed and welcoming environment. For those wishing to spend additional time viewing works in the stockroom, or to have a curated selection prepared in advance, appointments can be arranged at your convenience.

Exhibiting the rich traditions and innovations of Indigenous Australian artists. We are a Signatory to the Indigenous Art Code.

Working with Collectors
We believe collecting contemporary art should be engaging, accessible and rewarding, whether you are purchasing your first artwork or building an established collection.
Our team works closely with private collectors, businesses, architects, designers and institutions to source artworks that suit a wide range of spaces and budgets. In addition to our exhibition program, FLG maintains an extensive stockroom featuring works, providing access to a broad cross-section of contemporary Australian art practices and styles.
We offer personalised consultations, artwork placement advice and virtual viewing services to assist clients in finding artworks that resonate with their interests, environment and budget.
Whether visiting the gallery or reaching out online, we take the time to understand your space, stylistic preferences and budget. We can prepare curated artwork selections drawn from both our exhibition program and stockroom, and offer virtual placement services that allow you to preview artworks within your home or workplace before making a decision.

Opening Hours
Tuesday – Friday, 11am to 5pm
Saturday 11am to 5pm.
You are welcome to visit without an appointment during those hours.

Mobility and Accessibility
As the Nicholas Building is an old building there is no wheelchair accessible toilets. Access to the gallery is via the lifts. The lift doors have an opening of 75cm so may not fit some mechanical chairs. The gallery is accessible on the first level of the building.
FLG would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation who are the traditional custodians of the land on which FLG stands.
We would also like to pay respect to the Wurundjeri Elders, past and present, and extend this respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait people from other communities who live here today.
FLG is signatory to the Indigenous Art Code.
