Gallery Etiquette

GALLERY ETIQUETTE

 To have the best possible experience at the gallery, please discuss the following points with students and chaperones before your visit.

 1. Please do not touch any of the artwork on display in the gallery

 2. Please use indoor voices

Remember that other guests are here to enjoy the gallery too, and that the gallery staff are busy at work. Please be respectful and use low indoor voices inside the galleries.

 3. Walk carefully through the gallery

Please no running, jumping, or playing. Objects and works of art are fragile and often irreplaceable. Do not sit down on the floor in the gallery.

 4. Please do not bring large bags, food, or beverage into the gallery space

To maintain the safety of the artwork on display, all food, beverages, lunch boxes, and backpacks must be left outside of the gallery.

 5. Ask before you photograph

Most exhibitions allow photography WITHOUT the use of flash; however, we do request you ask before taking any photos. Please refrain from using the gallery and the artwork as the set for a photo-shoot - please be respectful when photographing an artist’s work.

 6. Please use only pencils in the gallery spaces

You are welcome to use lead pencils for sketching or writing in the galleries; however, pens, markers, crayons, pastels, and paints are not allowed.

 7. Please only take what you need

We are reducing our environmental footprint, so we do not have the capacity to give printed catalogues, calendars, and price lists to everyone. Please feel free to take a photo of the documents or share one between the group.

 8.No more than 5 people can be in the gallery at one time. Those waiting to enter must do so away from the front door to allow access by the public and staff
