Ramshackle cartoon, ash on the wind
2025 – Original
acrylic on linen.
97cm x 87cm
Chaotic, disjointed, and unapologetically maximalist, Ramshackle Cartoon, Ash on the Wind feels like a television signal on the fritz—an explosion of visual noise, layered with the remnants of something half-remembered.
Gromm pulls from pop culture, urban decay, and fleeting impressions, crafting a work that sits between nostalgia and disruption. Fragments of recognisable forms peek through the composition, but they never settle long enough to be fully grasped.
The title hints at transience—images disintegrating before our eyes, the past dissolving like smoke. It’s a world built on the edge of clarity, refusing to be pinned down.
