Belonging to Fire
Introduction
The Warlukurlangu Community is situated in Yuendumu, 300 kms North West of Alice Springs and is renowned for their spectacular use of colour and pattern, depicting traditional Dreamtime stories in an enriched, contemporary way. Warlukurlangu means ‘belonging to fire’ in the local language, Warlpiri, and is named for a fire dreaming site west of Yuendumu.
The art centre has a national and international profile and the works that are created under the Warlukurlangu banner have featured in hundreds of exhibitions and publications in Australia and around the world.
This exhibition showcases some of the new vibrant, beautiful and culturally rich artwork that is currently being produced by the community's talented artists.
