My paintings begin with sustained observation of Victorian forests. I search for moments where light, atmosphere and form quietly converge, recording them through photography. These observations are developed into oil paintings that distil the landscape into compositions of light, structure and space. Observation itself becomes the subject, inviting a slower way of looking.
