Using images of museum statues and floral macro shots of public gardens each photogravure print contains multiple worlds and histories: with a layered monocolour etching overprinting a digital colour ground. Each print is editioned in colour variants to extend the subtle play of light and colour within the key images and across the series. The pieces explore the conjunction of opposites: the hard and the soft, the wild and the contained, the enduring and the ephemeral, dark and light. This is part of a broader body of work which explores what philosopher Jane Bennett refers to as ‘a mode of communication which proceeds via shape’. When attuned to this shapely communication we begin to recognise affinities across the human and the more than human.
